Although we're more stealthy; less flash and more humility, most of us still need kicks of motivation, pumping up, and a reminder that with every end there is a new beginning and we're never quite ready for it. I failed to mention that immediately before the ref asks if the gladiators are ready they ask if the contenders are, and let's face it who's really ever ready to face a gladiator?! New beginnings often feel like that.
So here's to that new beginning, you know, the one you've been avoiding. Maybe it's a next level, maybe it's beginning again where you've been before, or an even lower place than the last time you ventured down this path. They all come with their own challenges.
NINJAAAAA READYYYY?! Your loving motivational kick, my truth, and 3 steps to beginning again:
Oh how deeply I know your pain!
You want to start, but just getting the momentum to get going is overwhelming. You've probably even thought "All the time I've spent thinking about this, if only I'd used that time to work on it rather than think about it."
You're worried about what others will think. You've failed before. You're not quite sure you can do it. What if you stumble or fall... again? Surely they'll judge, laugh, ridicule! (that's BS we tell ourselves out of fear and seldom true, and if it is, STOP associating with assholes!)
And if you fall, you'll get back up and dust yourself off and keep at it!
Life isn't all wins, especially not on the first try, many times not even on the 10th!
But if it's a dream, a truth in your heart, or for your health, don't stop trying. Persist. Do not let your life become an "if only"!
Eventually "it" will happen and keep happening, just the way it's supposed to, and it'll become easier.
So whatever "it" is, go after it NOW!
And when you master that, go after the next thing that pulls you...
I start writing, and share it, and then I get scared, self-conscious. "Did I share too much? Was I too vulnerable? Is it good enough to post? No one wants to read this! I'll never be able to write like anyone I admire."
And so I stop.
These are the same fears that go through my head any time I fail at something or don't get the results I want when I expect them.
I lose faith in my potential to succeed at things I want to, need to, or that simply bring me joy.
So here's to courage, inspiration, and giving yourself the gift of a new beginning!
3 TIPS TO BEGINNING AGAIN
1. Read this, or something that inspires you to follow through daily (maybe there's a video or podcast that gets you fired up).
2. Schedule time to work on your goal every day.
3. Treat it like an appointment: don't miss it!
