I recently had someone trigger a reaction in me as to why I not only do what I do for myself, but for others. Why I love it and share it and believe everyone needs to learn how to move well and be well and and live well and of course feel awesome! It was a silly comment made by someone who sells supplements. One that criticized my approach and spoke to essentially "living a healthy lifestyle" (that I quote from the commenter) via meal replacement shakes and taking herbal weight loss pills. While this person triggered me because they commented in order to try to make fitness and a healthy lifestyle seem "too hard" and put me down, I realized that they believe that they have the answer to a truly healthy lifestyle. That they think that's it; no exercise, no real food, no proper sleep, hydration, right mindset, just a few easy overpriced supplements and they've got health.
The supplement world is a huge and thriving industry in which is pretty easy to make a lot of money and some trainers will try to convince you that you need a slew of supplements to go with your regimen and then sell them to you (and for a few supplements I can't argue, a few are a welcome addition to most North American's lives, to help supplement an already healthy lifestyle), most won't try to sell you on skinny pills and weight loss shakes though because while they work for weight loss for a while you cannot maintain health with them long term, and really how much of your life do you want to supplement 2 meals a day with a shake?
So I haven't chosen the seemingly easiest path, there is work involved in health and fitness, but it doesn't have to be hard, you build in habits and eventually you don't even know you're doing it. I've chosen to do what's right and the intended plan for our bodies, our vehicle, and only sure thing in this life guaranteed to stay the course. And in the end we know it's healthy and leaves us feeling awesome. And what's not to love about that and helping people live a better quality of life and playing with big kid toys all day?!
When there's a choice between the easy path and the right path and they aren't one and the same, know that the easy path is usually just an easy illusion. That while you may get what you want now nice and easy, there's usually a cost. After all, if it was as easy as just a few meal replacements and pills we'd all be fit and healthy... and October might be harvest time for all of our backyard money trees too!
My point isn't to sell you on what I do vs. the other guy. I fairly believe you know what's truth here or you likely never would have made it to my site or signed up for the newsletters or my services. My point is that we often allow ourselves to be sold fallacy, and the health and fitness realm is rife with unintentional, misinformed, and unfortunately totally intentional misinformation.
We want to believe that "it" can really be that easy. I struggle to find that's ever the truth though, even in this technological age of 24 hours drive-thru everything and general perception of instant gratification, as smartphones aren't always so smart and even black coffees are seldom actually made right. So when you have that seemingly tough choice of right vs. easy. Go for right, it always seems to come out on top! This is a transferable skill; it often works well in work life and relationships too ;)
Do you agree with me? Since the advent of internet over the postman are there any easy ways that live up to their hype?
P.S. If you're not sure about something new in the fitness health and wellness realm, please ask me. If I know I will share facts and opinions on the matter honestly (and if with strong bias, honesty and explanation), and if I don't know I will find out. I love learning about exciting new gadgets, diets, programs and their counterparts, the flops and over-hyped disappointments to help you make informed choices and keep it fun!
