The Latest & Greatest in Creating Your Awesomeness!
We've all heard it before: Keep It Short & Sweet or Keep It Stupid Simple. We are going with the second; I know you're smart, but life isn't always easy or simple, so let's at least let a healthy lifestyle be easy.
Fitness: Plan your workout a week or month ahead. Yes, a month, if you travel for work a lot, or find yourself working long days, and trying to sort out where your workout will fit among kid's activities, social engagements and somehow having some down time too, then a month isn't that far ahead at all. If on the other hand you don't end up with as busy a schedule, or it's more flexible a week will do. Now stick to this schedule like it's an important appointment, because, NEWSFLASH! It actually is, despite how long you may have managed to put it off. Aim for at least 30 minutes 5 times a week of cardio, 2 days a week or strength training, stretching for 10-20 minutes 5-7 days a week.
Health: Eat real food. What constitutes real? Food without ingredients, real food is ingredients as Jamie Oliver says. You can combine those ingredients, but upon purchase they shouldn't be items with ingredients. Eat slowly, chewing your food throroughly. Eat only until you're feeling lightly full.
Wellness: Sleep at least 7 hours nightly, if you're particularly active and/or work long days, 8 or 9 is preferable. Take at least 20 minutes of screen-free time to yourself every day, to destress, meditate, or read, even more is better if you can swing it. Make sure you also take some time each week to partake in social time with friends and family, and hobbies, games, or sports you enjoy.
Yes, it's simple, but it can be difficult to to get going all at once. Try adding a new habit every week or two to give you time to get each habit established without getting overwhelmed. If you've already tried this yourself and need some accountability, or this is all new to you and can't figure out where to start, call to schedule a Complimentary Fitness and Lifestyle Consultation.

Juice of 1/2 lime

1/4 cup Onion finely chopped
1 (or 2!) Cloves of garlic minced
1/4 cup chopped cilantro (optional for those that just about wrote off this recipe)
1/2 jalapeno pepper minced
Sea salt, and pepper to taste
Pit and spoon out the flesh of the avocados into a bowl, coarsely mash with a fork (unless lumps bother you, then do it until it's completely mushed, you know how you'll eat it people!). Stir in the lime juice until it's well incorporated, stir in remaining ingredients except salt and pepper. Add the salt and pepper stirring in a bit at a time until it tastes like gods would eat it. Serve it with veggies, or if you can afford the carbs today some organic tortilla chips or whole wheat pita. For the gods let us OOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMM Nom Nom!
