The Latest & Greatest in Creating Your Awesomeness
Happy New Year! January conjures up new beginnings, resolutions and fresh starts for many. Promises of losing weight, quitting smoking, and getting healthy are the top contenders. What does that last one even mean? No wonder people most people fail at their resolutions, how could you succeed if you can barely define what you're doing?!
Here are 3 tips to getting on (if you've fallen off, getting back on) the wagon and staying on it (because at least 25% have quit already!).
1. Be specific.
If your plan is to get healthy, that's awesome, but what does that mean to you? Be specific about what habits you want to adopt or stop. Does it mean eating your veggies? Eating appropriate quantities of food? Reducing after dinner beer consumption? Getting enough sleep? All of the above? Figure out what it means specifically, write it down and put it somewhere you will be reminded of it.
2. What's the next step?
You can't always predict all of the steps required in a goal, but you can figure out most of them and the rest is like driving, you keep your hands on the wheel and make those minor adjustments, sometimes you do have to take a small detour, but write out all of the steps that you have to take. Knowing the next logical step makes everything easier, it's a lot harder to make excuses if you can figure out what needs to happen next.
Those with support are far more likely to succeed at their goals/dreams/resolutions than those that go it alone. Accountability, whether it's your friend, a business partner, a group/class, or coach, makes your chances of achieving what you set out to do much higher. Whether these people support you, are toughing something out with you (like a boot camp or a project), making sure you follow through in a timely manner, or guiding you through it, you are far more likely to succeed than yourself alone who, you know, will let you off the hook.
FACT: Most people make the same New Year's resolutions 10 times without success! Ugh! Stop that insanity! Personal Training, Small Group Training and Lifestyle Coaching can help you sort out the first 2 steps and provide support through step 3, from guiding you on what to do, to doing that last set with you for moral support, and ensuring you do what you say you're going to do.
